by dno1967 (Image) All day new gossip stories hit the front pages of entertainment sites, but how can we separate truth from fiction? Among the new items in the popular media of some of the oldest such as People Magazine, tend to be more reliable sources, the overlap as much as possible before publishing. This tends to make these items from reliable sources, but at the same time often slow to emerge with new controversy is more difficult to confirm and that might cause negative reactions. After all, if a story reflects poorly on a celebrity, they and their representatives are not likely to confirm and may in fact openly deny totally jammed up. They may also be reluctant to cooperate with the media in the future.
There are many media that are more bold and go ahead with the publication of a story fairly easily if they believe it is based on truth, even if the gossip is based on circumstantial evidence. These types of stories require more detective work to assess the validity of the story. New couple alert is a good example. Celebrities are often spotted “looking cozy ‘all the time together. Sometimes these types of stories have photo evidence in support, other times it is based on hearsay, third party witnesses. Many times these stories are just planted by the representatives. and the celebrities are for advertising. Jennifer Aniston is still being linked to every leading man she works with, especially since her separation from Brad Pitt. Fans want to see Jen find love again and tabloids were eager to return to sell magazines. Two thirds of these stories are false or more of course. When Jen was first linked to John Mayer, frankly, I was skeptical. The funny / sad, when Jen broke up with Mayer, she was immediately linked with another hot new guys. This rumor would have made everyone very skeptical soon proved to be false but it is the nature of this activity. Without entering into any obvious here, another type of example that the story is generally difficult to obtain confirmation of celebrities is plagued by health problems. It was “The National Enquirer” that broke the news on the story of Patrick Swayze cancer, which was confirmed by his representative. After the actor was “unmasked.” Meanwhile stories like this, called Paul Newman’s battle with cancer has never been officially confirmed.
Many Gossip News outlets fall into a third category. Apparently under the gun to launch new products, they throw in a few trash Gossip ” stories in the composition of each publication. Most of these fictional stories are not based malicous and flap based on truth, I call “narratives of progress. A celebrity dating the same person for a while , is reported to be breaking up, cheating, or planning their wedding. A celebrity known to drink, goes to rehab. A celebrity is photographed with a new ring, he committed. A few weeks before Jennifer Aniston split John Mayer, she appeared on two magazine covers on the same week. A declaration that she intended her wedding, the second floor, she was already making plans to have a baby.
My biggest pet peeves in the truth and falsehood game is twofold:
The media and Internet sites that publish deliberately malevolent, false stories for publicity reasons. Many of these capitalizing stories about celebrities and misfortunes that attract attention, but are often based on nothing more than conjecture or any imagination. A history of trash last year, had my blood boil, “said Christina Applegate was going to out of treatment for cancer of the breast for it to have a baby! The tabloid picked up on that, “Christina told a reporter that she would not wait until her mid-forties to have a baby, and that her biological clock was ticking. ” We learned that five days later Christina Applegate had a double mastectomy was performed to remove the cancer.
Also the media are turning their backs on certain types of stories because they do not want to dirty their hands or offend the public. Recently celebrating the NY Post Page Six published under their “blind spots”:
“Which hunk in a summer movie is a violent, imprisoned homosexuals? The idol has snuck into his ex’s apartment a few months ago and raped him so violently, the ex ended up in hospital – and the actor paid him 0000 to close its mouth. ‘
Well, I guess you can see why they might be a little reluctant to name names. It is not unusual for one of these blind items, which are often posted eventually be declared with a name by several publishers bold.
